Bamboo, Japanese Maples - At the June 12 Grand Opening of The Secret Garden in Elk Grove!
Bamboo, Japanese Maples - At the June 12 Grand Opening of The Secret Garden in Elk Grove!
Its a road-trip to Elk Grove! Jim Lombard and I are headed to Elk Grove for the Grand Opening of the second location of a Sacramento-area favorite, The Secret Garden.
I'll have bamboo plants for sale, lots of variety at a great price. Even favorites like 'Giant Clumping Timber Bamboo', 'Alphonse Karr' and 'Teague's Blue' will be for sale, and a whole lot more. I'll be there to answer your bamboo questions and help select the right bamboo plant for your yard.
Jim, a friend that sells Japanese Maples, is re-stocked and ready to sell some beautiful Japanese Maples at great prices. As always, he'll be ready to answer your questions on these special trees.
The Secret Garden is a family-owned garden shop that carries garden statuary, fountains and unique garden gifts. The Grand Opening is for their second location that is located right off of Highway 99. Don't miss this Grand Opening.
Look for Jim and I in the Asian Garden section.
When: Saturday, June 12, 10 am to 3 pm
Where: The Secret Garden located at 8450 West Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95758 - HWY 99, Sheldon Exit to West Stockton Blvd. Head north .9 mile. (916) 682-6839

Bamboo as a privacy screen in Joe's backyard...
Joe, a customer, who purchased Phylostachys bissetti and Phylostachys nigra 'Black Bamboo' sent me photos of how he used bamboo in his backyard. He built some really nice self-contained boxes to hold his running bamboo, large enough to get some good growth on these really nice varieties.
In his message, Joe said, "Some of the culms have literally shot up 6’ in probably 2-3 weeks. Not joking. Some of the plants are spreading out and others are shooting up. This stuff is awesome."
Thanks Joe for sharing your project. Looks great.
