The timber bamboo that you would have to stick with are runners like Phylostachys vivax, Phylostachys edulis 'Moso' or Phylostachys bambusoides 'Japanese Giant Timber Bamboo.' All runners. Clumping timber bamboos would not do well in sustained temperatures under 20 degrees. Hope that helps.

SeanMad Man Bamboo Nurseryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16453053848433990196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141531470384769268.post-70183141240005839392009-12-16T16:52:30.333-08:002009-12-16T16:52:30.333-08:00Ok, You say hard freeze, I say "show me the n...Ok, You say hard freeze, I say "show me the numbers!" We are installing a pond, a waterfall, a hill, and, hopefully, a bamboo forest in the spring. It is not yet mid Dec, and in East Central Ohio it has been bellow 15 deg F several nights here. Is there a timber variety that would survive (and hopefully thrive) here on the edge of zone 5?Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08442419546836689939noreply@blogger.com
